Abstract

Dit boek gaat over interpersoonlijke communicatie of de communicatie van mens tot mens. Deze kan worden weergegeven in een tweedimensionaal beeld dat op een cirkel lijkt. Het is echter niet zomaar een cirkel, maar een zogenaamd interpersoonlijk circumplex. Sommige mensen zijn bekend met de roos van Leary en dit boek behandelt er de moderne, wetenschappelijke variant van. Het boek doet dit op een verrassend eenvoudige en herkenbare manier, die aansluit bij ons intuïtief denken over ons gedrag ten aanzien van anderen. De eerste doelstelling bestaat erin om een inzicht te geven in de manier waarop mensen onderling communiceren. Mensen helpen om op een bewuste manier de efficiëntie en de effectiviteit van hun communicatie met anderen te verbeteren is een tweede doelstelling. Het boek bevat heel wat praktische tips over communicatieve vaardigheden. Ook mensen die worstelen met hun assertiviteit vinden nuttige informatie in dit boek. Tenslotte gaat de auteur uitgebreid op zoek naar verklaringsmodellen en vindt hij die voornamelijk in de evolutiebiologie en diverse psychologiedomeinen.

Abstract

The aims of CoDesign are: * to report new research and scholarship in principles, procedures and techniques relevant to collaboration in design; * to act as an international forum for discussion of collaborative design issues; * to foster communication between academic researchers and industry practitioners concerned with collaborative design; * to encourage a flow of information across the boundaries of the disciplines contributing to collaborative design; * to stimulate ideas and provoke widespread discussion with a forward-looking perspective. CoDesign is inclusive, encompassing collaborative, co-operative, concurrent, human-centred, participatory, socio-technical and community design among others. Research in any design domain concerned specifically with the nature of collaboration design is of relevance to the Journal. Research papers which present theory, report empirical studies, and describe and evaluate collaborative design methods, tools and techniques are welcomed. Papers reflecting on practical experience of collaborative design are also welcomed. Topics include collaborative design theory; collaborative design methods, techniques and tools; methods for studying collaborative design; studies of collaborative design; computer-supported collaborative design (CSCD) system requirements; CSCD systems, design and use; communication in collaborative design; computer mediated collaborative design communication; handling design issues (e.g. sustainability) collaboratively, and managing collaborative design. The Journal provides a primary outlet for research publications, state of the art reviews, book reviews and correspondence discussing collaborative design. All published research articles in this journal have undergone rigorous peer review, based on initial editor screening and anonymous refereeing by independent expert referees.

Abstract

Dogs are a valued part of millions of households worldwide. They also serve many functions in human societies from herding livestock to detecting drugs, explosives, or illegal wildlife to providing physical assistance or emotional support to those in need. Yet, in terms of behavior and cognition, dogs have only become a serious subject of scientific study in the last 20 years. Similarly, we have recently witnessed a sharp increase in studies of canine-human interaction, exploring the motivational, emotional, cognitive, physiological, and neural mechanisms of dogs on human psychology and well-being. This book is a collection of chapters stemming from the Nebraska Symposium on Motivation, which focused on Canine Cognition and the Human Bond. The primary goal of this symposium was to bring together researchers from psychology, biology, neuroscience, and anthropology to delve deeper into the canine-human bond. What is Violent Communication? If "violent" means acting in ways that result in hurt or harm, then much of how we communicate--judging others, bullying, having racial bias, blaming, finger pointing, discriminating, speaking without listening, criticizing others or ourselves, name-calling, reacting when angry, using political rhetoric, being defensive or judging who's "good/bad" or what's "right/wrong" with people--could indeed be called "violent communication." What is Nonviolent Communication? Nonviolent Communication is the integration of four things: - Consciousness: a set of principles that support living a life of compassion, collaboration, courage, and authenticity - Language: understanding how words contribute to connection or distance - Communication: knowing how to ask for what we want, how to hear others even in disagreement, and how to move toward solutions that work for all - Means of influence: sharing "power with others" rather than using "power over others" Nonviolent Communication serves our desire to do three things: - Increase our ability to live with choice, meaning, and connection - Connect empathically with self and others to have more satisfying relationships - Sharing of resources so everyone is able to benefit
